Saatchi is a gallery in London and the online version of themselves is pretty huge and active. P'Artisan Show at RD Museum

In September I shall have three new works in the P'Artisan group show "Space P'Articles". Its being displayed at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery.

8 Minutes of Peace

I recently entered a contest with a special drawing. It was for Edmonton's Night of Artists group.

My thoughts were that just hanging out with friends is the ultimate example of peace, and that everyone has to be a superhero in their own lives to uphold that peace. I gave us all special tatoos to exagerate that idea.

I have an idea mulling its way around my brain for my next exhibit. I am planning another solo for 2009 and I think it will be a combination of ideas that have been on the back burner for a while. The tentative title is "Dorothy, meet Alice.". It will be illustrative, akin to my "Red Lantern" series. I haven't worked out all the details, and so far its looking like a combination of collages (mixed media), and ink drawings, but its kind of exciting me, and I am itching to get the ideas out of my head.

Currently I am working on a large series of paintings with my Stone Icon series. They will be shown later in the year at the Gallery IS. There will be 12-15 pieces, in varying sizes.

Ideas #5

This is a photo of some sort of fungus. It was growing on a dead tree last summer and it is fascinating! I really want to create something from it but have yet to come up with a solid idea. I dont think I could do it justice with a painting but mabey with ink.

Spring Cleaning

I am trying to get some older works to good homes. I have placed a bunch of them in my Etsy shop at reduced prices and with free shipping. Good deal huh?

This is a limited time offer. In May I will be traveling for the first time to London, England, and I would like to sell lots of art by then to support the trip. Its a cultural evolution for me, and any sales would be very much appreciated. :]

A Studio View

The month of January consisted of a much needed break. During my hiatus, I did nothing except hang out with friends, plan upcoming projects and catch up on some movies and tv.

There is no rest for the wicked however, and February marks a return to the work table. Speaking of tables, I thought it might be interesting to share a shot of my studio. This is where my paintings get painted.

My New Solo Show

I have a new solo show going up this weekend. Oh happy day! Here is the info for the show, stollen from my Gallery's Blog.

""A Space Oddity" is the result of Erika's love for science fiction. At an early age Erika was a fan of Star Trek. Her appreciation for the sci-fi genre has grown with her and now she finds great inspiration in the movies, television, and liturature of sci-fi.
Please visit the gallery between Aug 6th and Aug 31st to view this collection of over 20 all new paintings. Some of the highlights include a zodiac series, a city of the future, robots, and many, many rockets. These works are done in Erika's unique "drawing with paint" style.
