My New Solo Show

I have a new solo show going up this weekend. Oh happy day! Here is the info for the show, stollen from my Gallery's Blog.

""A Space Oddity" is the result of Erika's love for science fiction. At an early age Erika was a fan of Star Trek. Her appreciation for the sci-fi genre has grown with her and now she finds great inspiration in the movies, television, and liturature of sci-fi.
Please visit the gallery between Aug 6th and Aug 31st to view this collection of over 20 all new paintings. Some of the highlights include a zodiac series, a city of the future, robots, and many, many rockets. These works are done in Erika's unique "drawing with paint" style.
The opening reception is set for Aug 10th, 6-8 pm. Drinks and munchies available. The artist will be in attendance. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free."

Ideas #4

More ideas for paintings! This is actually an idea I am already working on, but this has been on my list of "things to paint" for a very long time.

I have started painting these oriental poppie buds as part of a 4 seasons series. This will be spring. Also included in the series will be persian fritillaria, chinese lanterns, and witch hazel.

Ideas #3

This is a blue spruce. A possible subject for a commissioned piece. I like the idea so much however, that I may do the painting even if the commission dosn't go ahead.

Random Comments

Its the end of another year. I would love to hear something (anything) from the visitors of my website. Please, write me a few words. Words of praise, words of wisdom, critiques, problems, ideas, advice, whatever!

So add your random comment to this post, and make me a very happy artist :)

I want to hear from you all!

Have a great Holiday, and a wonderful New Year.

This drawing is a special piece that I have just listed. Its called "A Sleeping Beauty", and its pencil on paper.

More Ideas

Here is a photo I took in the spring. I plan (sometime in the near future) to paint this. I think it will make for a really interesting subject.

Too many ideas.

As a treat for my website visitors I thought I would begin posting photos and ideas I have for future artworks.

Like this one. A columbine from my garden. I intensified the colours in this photo because I want to start working with more blue in my paintings. Normally this flower is violet and white.

Hey, here is a challenge. Let me know if YOU have an idea for a piece of artwork. If your dieing to see me tackle a particular subject, or if you have an interesting quote, word, story, myth that you think would be fun for me to tackle let me know. I just might do it :]

These are portraits of me done by artist James McPartlin. You can see the full versions on his website http://www.jamesmcpartlin.com

Update: James is going to be creating a new portrait of me. Keep an eye here or his website for the finished work.
